I'm not sure if Saltaire has gotten more beautiful or if I'm just appreciating it more, but it has really been unbelievably gorgeous here this summer.
I love seeing the whole community hang out together at the annual bay picnic. It's so special. Especially because the kids enjoy it more than anyone.
I've even been inspired to paint again this summer, i.e. do watercolors of Saltaire and not just commissioned portraits. Here's one of the view west from Bay Prom at Beach Walk.
And also to do a few more beach-inspired pillows:
I kind of love how this family tree pillow (commissioned as a birthday gift for my sister's lovely and amazing mother-in-law Barbara) came out.
For a couple of days my nephew Syrus had me on a rigorous work schedule making the stuffed animals he wanted. Fortunately he was pleased with the results and allowed me a sabbatical.
Having easy, carefree fun with these little munchkins -- and watching them have fun with each other -- is definitely one of the greatest things about spending the summer together in Saltaire.
Got to try to remember how it felt to be here, now, when I'm back in the concrete jungle in the dead of winter bemoaning my life!
